Hello my name is Heather Smith and I’m a Wade Gordon Hairdressing Academy alumni. Before I started my cosmetology education I was a bartender for 8 years. Although I made good money, I knew I needed to pursue my passion for hair, knowing the older I got I couldn’t bartend forever. I waited 10 years before I finally enrolled! I’m a single mom of 2 little ones and I had every excuse in the world because I was afraid of taking on school on top of work and being a full time mom. FINALLY, I took a leap of faith and it was the best decision I ever made! I was very welcomed when I came to tour the school and started the next week. It wasn’t easy but great friends, instructors and other administrators helped me along the way. I wanted to be a successful hairdresser not only for myself and my kids, but for someone that needed the smile I put on their face. This is a never ending learning process. Follow your dreams, believe in yourself and never give up! I’ve been at Designers Group Salon for 2 1/2 years and it’s been a blessing. You truly meet people in this career that you need in your life!
